New exclusive feature
The latest version of Kantaris has a unique new feature which to my knowledge no other player has, it can detect character encoding of subtitles by analyzing the text. This means that you never have to manually set the character encoding again. The feature is mainly for languages with “funny” characters, like Chinese.

Yet another minor update
- Fixed problem with Last.fm radio which broke in version 0.5.3.
- Fixed problems with the hotkeys and some problems downloading subtitles from the online database.
- Added option to set default aspect and crop ratio.

New translations
I’ve just received two new translations, one for French and the other for Polish. Thanks for you work. I’m posting this now to inform possible users who were planning to translate Kantaris into these languages.

Great news, Kantaris 0.3.7 has received over 100 000 downloads in the 5 days it has been out. That’s a mad number of downloads and I’m still puzzled over the cause of the increase. But I’m not complaining :P . If anyone knows anything that could contribute to the increase let me know. I would also like to thank everyone that has helped spread the word about the player.
A new forum is up.
After a long time without a working forum we finally set up a new one and there is already a few that have started posting. If you registered in the old forum you will unfortunately have to register again.
Kantaris is awarded 5 stars out of 5 in reviews.
I have received mails from two different sites telling me that in they have reviewed Kantaris and that they feel it deserves the highest possible score. This makes me happy and I will of course continue to make the player even better.
