If your native language isn’t available or if the translation is outdated please help out. Here is how:

    Translate instructions:
I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to make a translation of Kantaris. The translation files are located inside the language folder in the kantaris folder. For example: “C:\Program Files\Kantaris\Languages”. They are regular .txt files and can be opened with notepad. Filename should be [country code]-[native country name].txt for example sv-Svenska.txt, or en-English.txt. You can get the country codes by looking at the flags in the Kantaris\flags directory. Check the sv-Svenska.txt for what is needed to be translated.  The text inside the ‘[' and ']‘ is the text that should be translated. A example:
[Open file to play]=Öppna fil för uppspelning
    [original text]=translated text

Ones done, send the file to me in an e-mail

Thanks so much! I love Kantaris, and though a college student and can’t donate right now I am spreading your awesome software through word of mouth. I especially love the newest gui!

i just thought i might offer a suggestion to be able to enable mouse buttons in hotkeys menu, or to even, possibly later, designate it its own tab or section of a tab in “settings” options. especially for HTPC, many people use a mouse primarily when using a media player. to be current, it should incorporate a mouse with 4 buttons and a scroll-wheel (newer scroll wheels even being able to be toggled side- to- side, in addition to being depressed as a 5th button).

also, i think there should be a way for us to enable a preference for certain codecs, renderers and filters that we have installed in our computer. i know that this is based in VLC, and even a bit more streamlined, but this can be handy for working around errors, plus some codecs are preferable, For instance, those of us who have CoreAVC installed want to be able to use that for H264, etc, so long as it’s a 32 bit player.

i really appreciate that you are offering the abilities of subtitle database uploads, etc. i have not used this feature yet on your player, but i have used the downloading feature in MPC, and it is nice to have (if still a bit disorganized, though this has nothing to do with the software). that is the reason i have decided to try your player out. if you are interested i can write more in the future with critiques on its ability to render subtitles. some players do a really poor job of this, especially with font-styles, soft-encoded karaoke and multiple streams, not to mention many just sort of hiccup routinely.

      thanks for your work.

I just have a quick question. Will there be an always on top option in future releases so Kantaris will always be the top window?

Kantaris UI looks just great but i find missing one thing: theres no option to switch visualization to cover display mode. I don’t always want to see visualization, and when i turn it off i see black blank space. Hey, whay not to put cover in there! There is a room for it. It could be default replacement for visualization view or option to choose. I imagine it could look like notifier cover art but bigger. What you think ?
I appreciate your work guys. Its HUGE, impressive media player, fits my needs perfectly. I found it today and already felt in love. Thank you !!!

This is the best player ever… I love the fact that I can play RAR directly…

      But there’s something I couldn’t achieve yet… maybe I’m missing something…

In idx/sub subtitles we have several languages… how can we change the language we want to see???

I know I can change that directly in the idx file…. but that’s not a good solution has I have lots of subtitles like this!

    15. Sonam | March 8th, 2010 at 1:38 pm

      Sorry,Didn’t got you exactly.
Are you trying to say that you have many subtitles of different languages for a single movie. And you want to choose one?

      Thanks,
      Sonam Singh,
      Kantaris Team

Hello, Where can I find the file source of the downloaded subtitle for use in other software?

    17. Sonam | March 28th, 2010 at 5:44 pm

You can find subtitle files at
      C:\program files\kantaris\cache\sub

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7,You might need to click compatibility files(at top) when you reach the path c:\program files\kantaris\cache.

      Thanks,
      Sonam Singh,
      Kantaris Team

Sorry to reply again so late… I rarely use subtitles… is more because of my wife!

Some subtitles are in idx files… idx is very diferent from sub or srt, you’ll have and idx file with settings and a rar with the several subtitles…

In the newer version of kantaris I’m not even able to load this kind of subtitles!

Its not a big deal at least not for me, since I rarely use subtitles!
